Six questions to answer first.
Is it the exact item?
Match the SKU, UPC, TCIN, Internet number, model, size, color, and package quantity.
How recent is the report?
Markdowns can change quickly. Look for a clear timestamp and favor the freshest store-specific information.
Is the location correct?
A result at one store does not establish the price or inventory at another location—even nearby.
What is the full cost?
Add tax, travel, supplies, shipping, marketplace fees, return risk, and your time to the shelf price.
Does demand exist?
If reselling, compare recent completed sales for the exact model and condition—not optimistic asking prices.
Can you store and sell it efficiently?
Check condition, missing parts, storage size, shipping difficulty, seasonality, and realistic time to sell.

Decision rule
A big percentage off is not the same as a good buy.
The best clearance purchase is one that still makes sense after uncertainty and total costs are included. If the information is old, the drive is long, condition is questionable, or demand is weak, the disciplined choice may be to pass—even when the markdown looks huge.
